About Us

History

The idea to found the Indo-Aachener Sportverein emerged within PPI Aachen (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia Aachen), the community of Indonesian students in Aachen. Over the years, several sports groups had already formed in badminton, basketball, futsal, and volleyball that were active but operated independently, each without any legal framework.

Even before formal incorporation, this community had already begun organizing competitions on its own initiative. In 2025, the group held Liga Aachen twice, a small-scale futsal competition for local Indonesian teams. These events demonstrated both the appetite for organized competition within the community and the practical need for a proper legal structure to support and grow such initiatives further.

The founding members recognized that this lack of legal structure limited the departments' growth: without a registered structure, it was difficult to manage shared resources, officially use municipal sports facilities, apply for financial support or funding, or be recognized as an established institution. Out of this need came the decision to bring the various departments together under one common, legally recognized umbrella.

Turning this idea into reality took time. It followed long discussions among the various sports groups to align on a shared structure and way forward, and a lengthy preparation process covering everything from organizing the Gründungsversammlung (founding assembly) to drafting the Satzung (association statutes) itself. This careful groundwork ensured that all departments were heard and that the resulting structure would serve the community well.

This process culminated in the founding of the Indo-Aachener Sportverein e.V., with the statutes formally adopted by the General Assembly on the 31st of may 2025. The association was then officially registered with the Amtsgericht (local court) on the 31st of July 2026, granting it full legal status as an eingetragener Verein (e.V.). As a registered entity, the association now allows its individual departments to pool their strength, share responsibility, and, as a unified, non-profit organization, gain access to funding, insurance coverage, club facilities, and other benefits reserved for registered legal entities.

Mission

The Indo-Aachener Sportverein e.V. is dedicated to promoting sport and community among its members, and to building a sustainable, professionally organized home for the Indonesian sports community in Aachen. By uniting its departments under one legal framework, the association aims to:

• Ensure organized training and competition structures across all departments,

• Enable shared access to sports facilities, financial resources, and institutional support,

• Strengthen the cohesion of the Indonesian community in Aachen,

• And place the association's work on a stable, legally secure foundation for the long term.
